I’ve decided to just share my thoughts with you as and when I have them – no editing!
It would have been all too easy to stay in my hotel room this morning, and I really wanted to. But I was awake at half past two, showered and washed my hair by four, and at half past seven I made myself go out. I’ve been walking block after block and found myself by the river – the very spot where, back in September, I filmed myself saying I thought I’d have to come home.
I haven’t checked on the train, because I don’t want to know – I’m just going to turn up. And now I feel really brave. I know it’s only a walk, but somewhere in the last 25 years I lost my confidence, and this feels like getting a little of it back. Next: the river walk back to the hotel and, if there’s time before checkout, up Willis Tower for those views.
