A busy, sociable Saturday in New Mexico, starting with the birdsong (listen to those birds!) and a bit of retail therapy – little gifts to take home to the children.

Then a tour of Taos Pueblo, home of the Tiwa people. It’s one of the oldest continuously inhabited communities in America – people have lived here for over a thousand years – with the mountains of the national park rising behind it. The multi-storey adobe buildings are the oldest structures, and some families still live there, so you must be extremely respectful about what you film. The church dates back to the 1600s and the Spanish invasion, and the faith here blends Catholicism with the people’s own spirituality. A truly magical place.

Later: a visit to some friends of Rob and Ron’s (now friends of mine), drinks at five, and then packing up for the drive to Dallas.
