Road trip! Less than an hour in we’d already stopped to get a tyre repaired (thank goodness we did), and I’m pleased to report the roads are just as bumpy and pot-holed as ours at home.
I love geography and maps, so I hope you’re travelling along with me as we leave the foothills of the Rockies, turn a bend and suddenly find the landscape is staggeringly gorgeous. Then long, straight roads to Farmington – the sheer scale of this country is hard to explain – a stop for “gas” (not petrol!), past Ship Rock, into Arizona and on to Monument Valley.
The money shot. I’m still fairly speechless. I want to remember this moment, and hang on to it forever. (Sorry about the bugs on the windscreen!)
