With a scorching bank holiday weekend ahead (and a glass roof over my kitchen, so I’m cooking very early!), I thought I’d talk about tanning and staying hydrated.

  • Moisturise every day, not just in the sun. I use Weleda Skin Food body butter, morning and evening, 365 days a year.
  • Hydrate from the inside. I keep a pint glass by the kitchen sink and take sips every time I walk past – around 1.5 to 2 litres a day, especially if I’ll be having a drink in the evening. Alcohol does not hydrate you! So have plenty of water before my Bee’s Knees cocktail at five o’clock.
  • SPF 50 every single day, even in winter, on top of my serum and moisturiser. It won’t stop you getting colour – it just makes it safer.
  • You don’t need to lie out all day. In India I was in the sun from about 9am until half eleven or twelve, then under the umbrella for the rest of the day. No need to cook yourself!

Was that a bit of a lecture? I’m just trying to be helpful. Stay hydrated, stay safe, and have a wonderful long weekend. Cheers!
