Six o’clock on a Friday, and I’m live! I’d been cooking my dinner with The Devil Wears Prada on in the background (for about the hundredth time – I’m off to see the new one with India on her birthday). In this 40-minute chat I make a cocktail, give you a peek at my kitchen bar – yes, there’s a bar in the kitchen as well as the sitting room – then pull up a stool to answer your questions.
A few of the things we covered:
- My favourite dishes – including chicken Milanese with Parmesan in the crumb, served on angel hair pasta in a chilli tomato sauce with lemon and a little pile of dressed rocket, and my Asian-style beef carpaccio.
- Secret Supper aprons – I used to sell them at the supper club and lots of you have asked, so they’re coming to the shop. (Maybe a baseball cap, too!)
- How the supper club worked – no subscriptions; it was essentially a home restaurant, and guests booked for each dinner.
- The watermelon fresh – my Goa discovery. So simple! The barman was very particular about muddling the watermelon properly.
- Goa and getting home – including how kind everyone was where I stayed when flights were in chaos. Next year I’ll pack enough of everything for two months, not five weeks!
- My new filming set-up – two cameras, a tripod and a whole new editing programme. I’m bloody marvellous.
New here? My whole Goa story is in a playlist on YouTube – and the longer-form films are perfect to watch while you cook.
