Filmed live for International Cocktail Day. This is my go-to when I’m going out and feeling a bit nervous – it’s not sweet, and I’m pretty chilled by the time I arrive. I’m not a gin drinker, so mine is vodka.

Ingredients

Serves 1

  • A large shot of good-quality vodka (at least 40ml – I’m generous)
  • 15ml dry vermouth (I use Noilly Prat)
  • 10–15ml olive brine
  • 3 olives on a cocktail stick
  • Plenty of ice
  • Vermouth in an atomiser, to finish (optional)

Method

  1. Put your glass in the freezer.
  2. Fill a cocktail shaker with plenty of ice and add the vodka, vermouth and olive brine.
  3. Give it a really good shake, then strain into the frozen glass.
  4. Add the olives and finish with a spritz of vermouth from an atomiser.

Jules’s tip

Never contaminate your olive jar – always use a spoon or fork to get them out, and they’ll keep much longer.

Cheers! – Jules x
