From the ‘Batcave’ in France with Wayne and his lovely goddaughter Taylor: a margarita, a dirty martini, Wayne’s espresso martini and a Twinkle made with homemade elderflower vodka.
Ingredients
Each serves 1
- Margarita: 60ml tequila, 40ml lime juice, 20ml Cointreau
- Dirty martini: 2 large shots vodka, a splash of olive brine, the same amount of dry vermouth, olives on a stick
- Wayne’s espresso martini: 40ml Kahlúa, 20ml vodka, 1 shot espresso (decaf if it’s late)
- Twinkle: 1 shot elderflower vodka (or 20ml vodka with a splash of elderflower liqueur), topped up with fizz
- Plenty of ice for all
Method
- Margarita: shake with ice and serve American-style in a tumbler over ice (salt the rim if you can be bothered).
- Dirty martini: shake long and hard with lots of ice – the colder the better – and strain over the olives.
- Espresso martini: shake everything with ice and strain.
- Twinkle: pour the elderflower vodka over ice in a big goblet and top up with prosecco or crémant.
- Elderflower vodka: fill a 1-litre Kilner jar with elderflowers picked in spring, top with vodka, infuse for a week and strain through muslin.
Jules’s tip
My margarita is in parts: six tequila, four lime, two triple sec. In France our part was 10ml.
Cheers! – Jules x
