When I saw Henrietta’s artwork on Instagram, what moved me as much as the painting was the music she’d chosen to go with it – from The Big Blue. It sent me straight off to find the film, and it got me thinking about the four ’80s films that have really stuck with me:
- The Big Chill – everyone’s in it, before they were famous: Kevin Kline, Glenn Close, Jeff Goldblum, William Hurt. If you loved thirtysomething, you’ll love this.
- Local Hero – I’ve watched it at least 10 to 15 times. I adore it.
- Blade Runner – I don’t usually like sci-fi, but I was in love with Rutger Hauer.
- The Big Blue – I’d forgotten how wonderful it is. I was sobbing at the end.
And for your holidays: my new favourite flip-flops are Archies. They have a lovely arch support and they’re incredibly comfortable. They’re stretchy, so if they feel tight at first you can ease them to fit. They’re about the same price as Havaianas, but I think they’re more stylish and better value.
Oh – and the stripy bra you can spot through my dress is Rigby & Peller. I used to wear padded bras, but these days I much prefer sheer, unpadded ones.
