This is the most fantastically foolproof way to cook rice, and you don’t need a steamer. All you need is a pan of salted boiling water, a colander and a saucepan lid. No measuring either.
Tip about 200g (one cup) of rice, plenty for two, into gently bubbling salted water and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally so it doesn’t stick. Drain. Put a splash of freshly boiled water in the bottom of the pan, set the colander of rice on top, cover with the lid and steam for 8 minutes. Done. Perfect rice.
