Four sleeps to go and I’m nervous about everything – I was even nervous about making this film! But I’m packing in the spare room, and I’m actually rather enjoying paring things down. My entire make-up bag for six weeks: a Jones Road balm for a little colour on my cheeks, mascara, eyeliner and an eyebrow pencil (as anyone getting older knows, your eyebrows don’t disappear, they just need a bit of help).
I always pack two or three times until I’ve got it right. The forecast is hot everywhere except New Mexico, which is about 27°C in the day and 6°C at night. My hiking boots take up a quarter of the case even stuffed with knickers, so I’ll buy a cheap pair when I’m there.
It’s also a very sad time, with the passing of the Queen. I’ll miss the funeral, but wherever I am, I’ll wake up for the two minutes’ silence. She was the glue that held us together.
Next time you see me, I might be at the airport. Who knows!
