From Idaho into Washington State, finishing with dinner at The Pink Door in Seattle.
I woke at about six with bed hair and that view outside my window. I didn’t sleep brilliantly – a mix of weird dreams and pure excitement, because I don’t want to miss a thing. A special thank you to Tia, who’s been following my phone and sending me snippets about every place I pass through. I’ve become a fountain of knowledge!
Arriving somewhere new as a solo traveller is exhausting – the stress of finding your way, every single time – but it gets a little easier each time. I checked in, dumped my bags and, with the sun out for one day only, went straight back out. On the menu over the next couple of days: oysters, my hotel’s award-winning martini, and an early “early bird special” dinner at The Pink Door, which is tucked away with no sign at all.
Then a boat trip on Puget Sound. Standing at the back of the boat, I couldn’t quite believe I was there. I want it all to stick in my head forever – but for now, I’m in the moment, and I’m making myself go out every single time. Made all the better by a really lovely cup of tea.
