Good morning from day two of the Monument Valley extravaganza! The excitement still hasn’t worn off. After sunrise over those rocks (I spent all morning staring at them), we headed to the stretch of road where they filmed Forrest Gump.
The red earth reminds me of Australia, and it feels like such a spiritual place. I kept welling up – I think it’s because I’ve wanted to see this scenery since I was a little girl. Now I’m an old lady and I’m finally here!
Lunch came with green and red hot sauce on the table instead of ketchup and mustard – have both and it’s “Christmas”, which is how I like it. Then we clipped the corner of Colorado and drove back towards Taos and the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge. An epic journey.
